Hello & Welcome
I’m Donna De Witt, a Canadian author, songwriter, and independent publisher based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
This website brings together the different parts of my creative work—fiction rooted in belonging and resilience, educational resources designed for clear and independent learning, and original music created for storytelling, encouragement, classrooms, families, faith, and celebration.
Every project has its own purpose, yet they all grow from the same belief—that thoughtful stories, practical learning, and meaningful music can make a lasting difference.

The finished work is only one part of the story. Behind every book, learning resource, and song is a quieter process of revision, research, listening, and deciding what the work truly needs.
Revising and developing fiction across several connected series.
Building the K–12 catalog and its future companion music collections.
Expanding beyond the first released country-folk collection.
Why I Create
Every lesson begins with curiosity. Every song begins with a quiet moment that asks to be remembered.
Creativity is how I explore difficult truths without reducing people to what happened to them. It is how I make room for hope without promising easy answers, and how I turn lived experience, careful research, and imagination into something another person may be able to use.
I create because words can help us recognize one another—and sometimes help us recognize ourselves.
